Upgrading Your Standard Headers To Performance Extractors.

Also known as Headers...The extractors are a vital part of a performance exhaust system.

How do they work?

Extractors are designed to increase your vehicles power and torque as well as gaining a benifit on its economy. By allowing a better escape passage for the exhaust gases to release from the engines combustion chamber, each cylinder will in return work more efficiently and freely to produce more power and torque.

Why Not Keep Your Standard Headers?

All vehicles come out with standard headers. These are mass produced and designed by vehicle manufacturers with no performance in mind. There are some manufactures that do have performance in mind and have designed a better standard header for those particular modles. But, generally the vehicles are fitted with a header that has no performance quality at all. This design in most cases causes what is known as back pressure and excessive turbulance. This is when the combustion chamber does not have the capacity to clear all of the old exhaust gases from the combustion chamber freely and efficantly. This causing low power and is cases poor economy.

Carbon Footprint

By allowing your vehicles exhaust gases pass more freely out of the engine you will not find the need to use much throttle to get off the mark at traffic lights. This will slighlty help with your fuel economy as you won't be using as much fuel to get your vehicle moving. The less pressure on your accelerator pedal means you are helping your everyday carbon footprint.

Performance Exhaust Systems

There are many exhaust systems to choose from in the market place. The most commen being Pre Fabricated bolt up systems and Custom mandrel bend systems.

Whats the Difference?

As you can see these 2 systems have qualities of there own. The main difference being that the Mandrel bend system will garuntee you more power and minimal to no drone. By upgrading your exhaust the main benifit comes from the pipe work itself as it is larger then your standard system and less restrictive.

TBS Performance Mufflers V's Pre Fabricated Mufflers.

We have been designing our own performance mufflers for over 15 years. TBS began to do this as there was a need for a premium performance muffler to make our Custom Performance Exhaust systems.

This muffler had to meet the following requirements of:

• Power Increase
• A Distinctive Note
• No Drone

After much trial an error we finally made the ultimate muffler which not only meet all the above requirements but also meet ADR rulings and is versitale to fit onto every make and model.

How you ask? TBS Peformance Mufflers are all made to order. Yes they are all individually hand made to spec, full stainless steel and made with the very passion that it was designed for.

These mufflers were designed on a flow bench with testing also on an engine dyno and eventually on vehicles.

Each muffler is made individually to ensure they are all made exactly the same. Not like most bulk made items, yes they do have tolerances that each muffler needs to meet but with the TBS Performance mufflers these tolerances are tighter guaranteeing a premium muffler every time. 

Whats unique about TBS Mufflers?

The internal structure is the key with unique size tubing structure and the amount of padding which is used for the sound absorbing rate. Together these specs make a very defined and outstanding muffler.

• Pre Fabricated System - Twin or Single  2 1/4" to 3.5" bolt up exhaust system with a power upgrade of up to 20kw and a torque increase up to 5%.
• TBS Mandrel Bend System - Twin or Single 2 1/2" hand built exhaust system with a power upgrade of up  to 30kw and a torque increase up to 10%.
• Both systems will assit in the saving of fuel consumption

Carbon Footprint

By upgrading your vehicles exhaust system you not only make your vehicle perform better, but you will also be helping the environment with minimising your vehicles carbon footprint. How you ask? By fitting a larger less restrictive exhaust system your vehicles engine is able to breath more freely. For example if you have a cold and your nose blocks up it is hard for you to breath, by opening up your engines lungs it will allow the throttle response to become very sensitive when applying the power, which in turn the less acceleration that is needed to get your vehicle to move, the less fuel is burnt hench a lower carbon footprint.
